Hi, I'm Katie! My interest in becoming a nurse began in grade 8. It was that year I experienced taking care of a loved one who was struggling with their health. I had the opportunity to help dress them, help them walk, cook for them, spend time supporting them, and more. Ultimately, it was an opportunity to show my love for them tangibly as they recovered. From this experience, I recognized a personal interest in helping others in their health journey. Being a Christian also helped me to recognize that through nursing, I was able to serve others through potentially difficult seasons of life. In 2023, I began my first year at Trent/Fleming School of Nursing and am now in my third year. Through labs, lectures, seminars, and staff, family, and friends, I was able to learn various skills and thought processes involved with nursing. Clinical experiences are where I have grown the most, as they challenge my theoretical knowledge, problem-solving skills, communication, collaboration, and more. As I reflect on these past years with Trent and my experiences on B2, I appreciate how far they've pushed me in my learning so far. Overall, I am very thankful for these opportunities and the experiences that are to come.
